Winter travel and bad weather

Snow, ice, fog, flooding. How Fare 1 handles bad-weather travel from winter buffer to vehicle prep.

UK weather can disrupt chauffeur transfers. Here's how we handle the disruption.

Vehicle preparation

  • All vehicles have winter-grade all-season tyres (UK standard) — snow tyres on long-distance vehicles where regular Scotland routes apply
  • De-icer + ice-scraper carried in every vehicle
  • Heater systems tested seasonally

Bad-weather scenarios

Light snow / frost: Standard operation with extra time buffer. We add 15-20 minutes to standard timings.

Heavy snow: Route choice changes — motorway over secondary roads. Sometimes we recommend rescheduling.

Fog: Speed reduced; pickup time adjusts to actual visibility. Driver maintains adequate buffer.

Flooding: Affected routes avoided. Some journeys rescheduled.

Severe weather (Met Office Amber/Red warning): We may decline new bookings or cancel existing ones for driver/vehicle safety. No charge on weather-cancellations.

What you should do

  • Build extra time into critical bookings during November-March
  • Watch the Met Office forecasts for amber/red warnings
  • Email us in advance if there's any doubt about a specific trip
