1. Who we are
Fare 1 Limited ("Fare 1", "we", "us") is a private-hire vehicle operator registered in England and Wales, company number 16106393, with registered office at 26 Coleman Street, Southampton SO14 1GS. We dispatch licensed PHV drivers across the UK.
2. The booking contract
When you book a journey, the contract is between you and Fare 1. We accept the booking once we've confirmed it in writing (email or in-app). Before that, your request is an offer we may decline (e.g. if no driver is available for your time).
We quote a fixed price at the time of booking. That price holds — the price does not change via day-of re-quote or in-vehicle metering. The price covers the journey you booked. If you ask for extra stops, change the route mid-trip, or add waiting time beyond the included window, the extras are charged per the rate sheet at /pricing.
3. Cancellation and changes
You cancel.
- More than 24 hours before pickup: full refund, no fee.
- Within 24 hours of pickup: 25% cancellation fee.
- No-show at pickup: full fare charged (driver and vehicle were dispatched).
Changes. Time, vehicle, or route changes are accepted up to 2 hours before pickup, subject to availability. We'll re-quote if the change materially affects price (different vehicle class, significantly longer route).
We cancel. If we cancel a booking we've accepted (driver unavailable, vehicle issue, force majeure), you pay nothing and we'll help you arrange an alternative where reasonable.
4. Waiting time
We include 60 minutes of free waiting on airport pickups (from your flight's actual landing time) and 15 minutes on other pickups (from your booked pickup time). Beyond that, waiting is charged at £20 per hour, pro-rated. Waiting charges appear on your final invoice.
5. Payment
We authorise your payment card at the time of booking and capture the charge when the driver accepts the trip. If we cancel the booking, the authorisation is released. If the journey adds extras (longer wait, additional stops, route change), we capture the additional amount after the trip. See /refund-policy for refund mechanics.
6. Passenger conduct
The driver may refuse or terminate a journey if:
- Passengers exceed the vehicle's licensed seating (we book by passenger count for a reason).
- A passenger is abusive, threatening, or intoxicated to a degree that risks safety.
- Luggage or items pose a safety hazard or won't fit safely.
If a journey is terminated for passenger conduct, the full fare is charged.
7. Damage and cleaning
Damage to the vehicle interior caused by a passenger (including soiling that requires professional cleaning) is charged at cost, capped at £150 for cleaning and at the actual repair invoice for damage. We'll send you a receipt and the invoice from the cleaner or garage.
8. Liability
We aim to pick you up on the booked schedule. UK road conditions, accidents on route, and weather can delay any journey — we are not liable for consequential losses (missed flights, missed events) caused by such delays, except where we've been negligent. Book with sensible buffer for time-critical travel.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Lost property
Items left in the vehicle can be returned. Email hello@fare1.co.uk with your booking reference, the item, and where you sat. Return is typically by courier at the recipient's cost.
10. Data
We process personal data per our privacy notice. Card details go directly to Stripe — we do not see or store them.
11. Complaints
Complaints handling is set out at /complaints. We aim to acknowledge within 2 working days and resolve within 14.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be heard in the courts of England and Wales.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally — the date at the top of this page changes when we do. Material changes will be notified by email to account holders. Bookings already confirmed are honoured under the terms in force when they were booked.
