Airport and cruise transfers in Winchester.
Winchester is the closest town we cover to Heathrow — 58 miles, straight up the M3, no motorway junction worth worrying about — and it is the one town outside Southampton with its own fixed fare to the airport.

The journeys we make from here.
Distances and times below are measured on the same routing engine that prices your booking, in typical traffic. They are what we plan to, not a promise about the road on the day — and because the price is agreed before you travel, a slow run costs you nothing extra.

Local detail
What actually decides a Winchester journey.
The M3 from Winchester junction 9 to the M25 at junction 12 is the whole journey, and it is unusually predictable for a route into London. Fifty-eight miles, a bit over an hour in ordinary traffic. That reliability is why Winchester to Heathrow carries a fixed price of its own rather than being quoted per mile like everywhere else outside Southampton.
Gatwick is the awkward one from here: 69 miles, and the road wants you to go south to the M27 and east, or north to the M25 and round. It is a longer run than Heathrow for fewer miles gained, so we build more time into a morning Gatwick departure than the distance suggests.
Southampton Airport is ten miles down the M3 at junction 5 — close enough that the airport's own pickup charge and our minimum fare, rather than the distance, set the price. The cruise terminals are fourteen miles and about half an hour, which on a sail-day morning we treat as forty.
Where we pick up
SO21–SO23 and the villages around them.
- Winchester city centre, the Cathedral and the Broadway
- Winchester railway station and Stagecoach bus station
- The Royal Hampshire County Hospital
- Kings Worthy, Littleton and Sparsholt
- Alresford, Twyford and the SO21 villages
Pickups outside these areas are quoted the same way — the per-mile rate for your vehicle multiplied by the route, shown before you book.
The docks
All five Southampton cruise terminals.
The terminals are not interchangeable. Ocean and QEII sit behind Dock Gate 4 on the eastern docks, Mayflower and City behind Dock Gate 10 to the west, and arriving at the wrong gate on a two-ship Saturday costs half an hour. We confirm the terminal from your booking reference rather than the ship’s name, and time the pickup against the check-in window printed on your boarding pass.
Frequently asked
Quick answers.
- Yes — Winchester to Heathrow is one of our pre-set routes, in both directions, for a standard saloon or estate. Open the Winchester to Heathrow route page and book from there: the fixed price travels with that link. Typing the same two addresses into the booking form by hand quotes the journey on the per-mile rate instead, which is usually higher.
- Winchester sits in our Winchester pickup zone rather than the Southampton one, which decides which pre-set routes can apply. The reliable answer is to put your postcode into the booking form and read the price that comes back, rather than assuming a route price applies.
- For an airport or cruise run, as soon as you have the flight number or the sailing. For a local journey same-day is usually fine, but we are a pre-booked fleet rather than a rank — there is no guarantee of a car in ten minutes at three in the morning, and we would rather say so than take the booking and disappoint you.
- We track the inbound flight from wherever it took off, so the pickup time moves with the aircraft rather than with the schedule you booked against. The first 60 minutes of waiting after landing is included — enough for a full-flight baggage reclaim — and you are not charged for a delay that is not yours.
- Yes. Airport drop-off charges, congestion and ULEZ where they apply are shown as their own lines on the booking form so you can see what is a fee and what is fare. Nothing is added after the journey: no meter, no day-of re-quote, and the fare is locked when you book even if our rate sheet changes before your pickup.
