What actually decides the journey.
Which terminal, and why we take it from the flight number
Heathrow has four passenger terminals and they are not close together. Terminal 5 sits at the western end, Terminals 2 and 3 in the central area, Terminal 4 to the south — and airlines move between them more often than passengers expect, particularly codeshares. We take the terminal from your flight number rather than from the airline, so a re-gated arrival is sorted out before you land instead of by text message afterwards.
The satellite problem at Terminal 5
Terminal 5 has three buildings: T5A attached to everything, and the T5B and T5C satellites reached by an underground transit. If your aircraft parks at a B or C gate you add 10 to 20 minutes before you even reach immigration, and long-haul arrivals use the satellites often. Getting there from the south coast
Southampton to Heathrow is 67 miles and typically 1 hour 26 minutes — M27 to M3 to the M25 anticlockwise, almost entirely motorway. The section that decides the journey is the M25 between junctions 12 and 14; for a departure before 09:00 we build the Sunbury queue into the pickup time rather than hoping. Winchester is closer at 58 miles and has its own fixed fare; Basingstoke is closest of all at 37 miles.

London Gatwick — North and South terminals, the UK's second-busiest airport. A route we run from Southampton most weeks, priced upfront before you book. Driver routes direct to your terminal at the right departure level; arrivals pickups meet you at the exit holding a name board. Gatwick raised its drop-off charge to £10 in January 2026 — that surcharge is baked into the quote, never added later.

London Stansted — Essex-side budget carrier hub. The fixed-fare route from Southampton is a flat £220 — the longest single-airport transfer in the schedule, priced once with no surprises on the day.
