Airport and cruise transfers in the New Forest.

The New Forest is the part of our patch where a pre-booked car is not a luxury but the only sensible plan — the bus is seasonal, the lanes are unlit, and the ponies have right of way.

From the New Forest

The journeys we make from here.

Distances and times below are measured on the same routing engine that prices your booking, in typical traffic. They are what we plan to, not a promise about the road on the day — and because the price is agreed before you travel, a slow run costs you nothing extra.

Anywhere else in the UK is quoted the same way, on our published per-mile rate. the New Forest also sits inside the Southampton SO14–SO53 zone, so the pre-set route prices are available from here.

Local detail

What actually decides a New Forest journey.

From Lyndhurst the cruise terminals are ten miles and about twenty-five minutes; Southampton Airport is fourteen miles and about the same again. Heathrow is 75 miles, a little over an hour and twenty via the M27 and M3. Those are the three journeys we make most often out of the Forest, and the Forest half of each is the part that needs planning, not the motorway half.

Unlit lanes and a 40mph Forest limit mean journey times here do not scale with mileage the way they do elsewhere. For a pre-dawn pickup from a village address we ask for a what3words or a dropped pin rather than a house name, and we would rather the driver arrived ten minutes early and waited than circled a lane looking for a gate.

Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst, Beaulieu, Ashurst and the Waterside villages sit inside the Southampton SO14–SO53 zone, so the Southampton fixed fares apply from there. Addresses further west towards Ringwood and Christchurch are quoted on the per-mile rate instead — either way the price is agreed before you travel.

Where we pick up

SO40–SO45, BH24–BH25 and the villages around them.

  • Lyndhurst, Ashurst and Emery Down
  • Brockenhurst and Sway stations
  • Beaulieu, Bucklers Hard and the National Motor Museum
  • Burley, Bransgore and Ringwood
  • Hythe, Dibden Purlieu and the Waterside

Pickups outside these areas are quoted the same way — the per-mile rate for your vehicle multiplied by the route, shown before you book.

The docks

All five Southampton cruise terminals.

The terminals are not interchangeable. Ocean and QEII sit behind Dock Gate 4 on the eastern docks, Mayflower and City behind Dock Gate 10 to the west, and arriving at the wrong gate on a two-ship Saturday costs half an hour. We confirm the terminal from your booking reference rather than the ship’s name, and time the pickup against the check-in window printed on your boarding pass.

Frequently asked

Quick answers.

  • Yes, and we would rather not have to guess. Send a what3words or a map pin with the booking, tell us if the gate is set back from the lane, and the driver will be at the right spot rather than at the nearest postcode centroid. Forest postcodes cover a lot of ground and a satnav drops the pin in the middle of it.
  • the New Forest is inside the Southampton SO14–SO53 pickup zone, so the pre-set Southampton route prices are available on journeys from here. Open the route page for the airport you want and book from there — the fixed price travels with that link. Typing the addresses into the booking form by hand quotes the journey on the per-mile rate instead.
  • For an airport or cruise run, as soon as you have the flight number or the sailing. For a local journey same-day is usually fine, but we are a pre-booked fleet rather than a rank — there is no guarantee of a car in ten minutes at three in the morning, and we would rather say so than take the booking and disappoint you.
  • We track the inbound flight from wherever it took off, so the pickup time moves with the aircraft rather than with the schedule you booked against. The first 60 minutes of waiting after landing is included — enough for a full-flight baggage reclaim — and you are not charged for a delay that is not yours.
  • Yes. Airport drop-off charges, congestion and ULEZ where they apply are shown as their own lines on the booking form so you can see what is a fee and what is fare. Nothing is added after the journey: no meter, no day-of re-quote, and the fare is locked when you book even if our rate sheet changes before your pickup.
