Bristol Airport sits at Lulsgate Bottom, ~8 miles south-west of central Bristol. It's the south-west's main international gateway and a regular alternative for Welsh travellers who'd rather not transit Heathrow.
The chauffeur run
Distance: ~75 miles via the M27 / A36 / M4 corridor. Time: 1:30-2:00 off-peak. Fixed-fare from Southampton: £160 (standard saloon).
Per-mile alternatives: Executive saloon ~£180, MPV ~£200.
Bristol's banded drop-off pricing
Drop-off at Bristol works in three bands:
- £8.50 — 0-10 minutes
- £10.50 — 10-20 minutes
- £13 — 20-40 minutes
For most drop-offs the £8.50 band is enough — your driver completes kerbside drop in under 5 minutes. The higher bands apply if there's a delay or if you've asked the driver to wait while you check in.
There's also a free option — a waiting zone 7-9 minutes from the terminal where the driver can park at no cost if your inbound flight is significantly delayed. We use this on inbound pickups when we know about delays in advance.
Why Bristol from Southampton
Three patterns we see most:
Wales destination. Bristol is the closer major airport for many Welsh travellers — particularly Cardiff and the south-east Wales corridor. Our Southampton hub means we cover the southern Welsh-bound route via the M4.
TUI charter departures. Bristol has a strong TUI presence for summer Mediterranean charters. Charter departure times often don't fit cleanly with public transport — pre-booked chauffeur is the practical option.
easyJet routes not at Gatwick. Bristol has easyJet routes (Faro, Verona, Krakow) that don't exist daily at Gatwick. Some Southampton travellers find a better-priced direct flight from Bristol than the equivalent two-stop from Gatwick.
Vehicle category
For Bristol runs at ~75 miles, both Standard and Executive saloon work well. Executive earns its premium on the M27/M4 corridor stretches — quieter cabin matters on the 90+ minute drive.
For groups, an MPV handles 4-5 passengers with charter-flight luggage comfortably.
