Fixed-fare offers are paused just now.
Any fixed-fare route price quoted below was a limited-time promotion and is not running at the moment — we will be opening them again. Everything else in this article still stands, and every journey is quoted upfront on our standard rates before you book.
Fareham sits halfway along the M27 between Southampton and Portsmouth, and that central position gives it something most Hampshire towns do not have: two genuinely different roads to Heathrow.
Measured on our own routing engine, Fareham to Heathrow is 67.4 miles and about 1 hour 43 minutes in typical traffic.
The two routes
M27 east to the M3 at junction 11. The default. Motorway almost the whole way once you are past Wickham, and the fastest option outside peak hours. Its weakness is the M27 itself — junction 9 at Whiteley and the stretch towards junction 11 queue on weekday mornings.
A32 north through Wickham and Droxford, then the M3. Slower on paper — an A-road through the Meon Valley rather than a motorway — and often faster in practice between about 07:00 and 09:00, when the M27 option is not moving. It is the local's route and it is the reason a Fareham driver who knows the area is worth having.
Which one your driver takes is a decision made on the morning with live traffic, not one made when you booked. That is the point of a pre-booked car with a fixed price: the route risk is ours.
Timing an early flight
For a 06:00 departure from Heathrow we would set a Fareham pickup at about 02:45. That is one hour 43 minutes of driving, a margin for the M25 roadworks between junctions 12 and 14, and enough time at the terminal to check a bag without queuing against the clock.
Hand luggage only, and we will happily set it later — tell us when you book and we plan to that rather than to a default.
Gatwick, for comparison
Gatwick from Fareham is 69.1 miles and about 1 hour 37 minutes — almost identical mileage to Heathrow and slightly quicker, which is unusual. The road is the M27 east then the A27 and the A24 or M23, and it is the journey where leaving fifteen minutes earlier genuinely changes the arrival time, because none of it is reliable motorway.
If you have a choice of airport for a given trip and both work, Gatwick is marginally the better drive from Fareham. From Southampton it is the reverse.
What the price does
Fareham sits outside our Southampton SO14 to SO53 fixed-fare zone, so journeys from here are quoted on the published per-mile rate rather than from the pre-set route table. That is the same rate sheet, applied to your actual postcode, and the quote is locked at the moment you book.
There is no call-out fee and no minimum-distance surcharge for coming out to Fareham. Heathrow's own drop-off charge is shown as its own line on the booking form rather than folded into the fare.
Coming back the other way
On the inbound leg we track the flight from wherever it took off, so the pickup time moves with the aircraft rather than with the schedule you booked against. The first 60 minutes of waiting after landing is included, which covers a full-flight baggage reclaim at Terminal 5 or Terminal 2.
The driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name board. We take the terminal from the flight number, so a re-gated arrival is sorted out before you land rather than by text message afterwards.
