Vehicle MOT and insurance — our standards

Every Fare 1 vehicle: current MOT + comprehensive hire-and-reward insurance + council PHV plating + annual re-verification.

Every Fare 1 vehicle passes the vehicle-side checks before dispatching and re-passes annually.

What we verify

MOT. Current MOT certificate, no advisories warranting immediate attention. UK MOT runs annually; we check the date on every dispatch.

Insurance. Hire-and-reward policy specifically — standard car insurance doesn't cover paying passengers. We see the policy schedule, validate the named insured matches the vehicle, confirm dates current.

Council PHV plating. Vehicle must be plated for private-hire use by the relevant local council. The plate fixed on the vehicle (windscreen + rear) is the visible marker; we verify with the issuing council.

General condition. Body damage, interior cleanliness, tyre tread, brake performance. Drivers report any issues; we have monthly per-vehicle inspections.

Annual re-verification

Every January (or driver's individual anniversary) we re-run the four above. Skipped maintenance, lapsed insurance, expired plating — all caught annually.

What this means for you

You're getting into a vehicle that's been certified, insured, plated, and maintained. Not just a private car with a paper licence.
