Airport and cruise transfers in Hedge End.
Hedge End is six miles from both Southampton Airport and the cruise terminals, and on the M27 at junction 7 — about as central as an airport-transfer pickup gets in this part of Hampshire.

The journeys we make from here.
Distances and times below are measured on the same routing engine that prices your booking, in typical traffic. They are what we plan to, not a promise about the road on the day — and because the price is agreed before you travel, a slow run costs you nothing extra.

Local detail
What actually decides a Hedge End journey.
The two short journeys are genuinely short: the airport is six miles up the A334 and the M27, the cruise terminals six miles the other way through Bursledon or over Northam. The airport run is about a quarter of an hour, the terminal run about twenty minutes. Both take longer than that on a sail-day morning, and we plan for the longer number.
Heathrow is 68 miles from Hedge End, which is further than it is from Southampton itself — the M27 eastbound to junction 11 and then the M3 adds miles that the map does not make obvious. Gatwick is 76. For both, the price is agreed before you travel, so a slow M27 costs you nothing extra.
Hedge End is one of the places where the postcode and the pricing zone do not line up the way you would guess, so the honest answer on price is to put the postcode into the booking form and read the number that comes back rather than assume the Southampton route price applies.
Where we pick up
SO30 and the villages around them.
- Hedge End retail park and the village centre
- Hedge End railway station
- West End, Botley and Boorley Green
- Bursledon, Netley and Hamble-le-Rice
- The M27 junction 7 corridor
Pickups outside these areas are quoted the same way — the per-mile rate for your vehicle multiplied by the route, shown before you book.
The docks
All five Southampton cruise terminals.
The terminals are not interchangeable. Ocean and QEII sit behind Dock Gate 4 on the eastern docks, Mayflower and City behind Dock Gate 10 to the west, and arriving at the wrong gate on a two-ship Saturday costs half an hour. We confirm the terminal from your booking reference rather than the ship’s name, and time the pickup against the check-in window printed on your boarding pass.
Frequently asked
Quick answers.
- Ocean and QEII, behind Dock Gate 4 on the eastern docks, are the closest — about six miles. Mayflower and City, behind Dock Gate 10 to the west, add a few minutes and a different approach. We confirm the terminal from your booking reference rather than the ship's name, because lines move ships between berths and the gate is what the driver needs.
- Hedge End sits in our Winchester pickup zone rather than the Southampton one, which decides which pre-set routes can apply. The reliable answer is to put your postcode into the booking form and read the price that comes back, rather than assuming a route price applies.
- For an airport or cruise run, as soon as you have the flight number or the sailing. For a local journey same-day is usually fine, but we are a pre-booked fleet rather than a rank — there is no guarantee of a car in ten minutes at three in the morning, and we would rather say so than take the booking and disappoint you.
- We track the inbound flight from wherever it took off, so the pickup time moves with the aircraft rather than with the schedule you booked against. The first 60 minutes of waiting after landing is included — enough for a full-flight baggage reclaim — and you are not charged for a delay that is not yours.
- Yes. Airport drop-off charges, congestion and ULEZ where they apply are shown as their own lines on the booking form so you can see what is a fee and what is fare. Nothing is added after the journey: no meter, no day-of re-quote, and the fare is locked when you book even if our rate sheet changes before your pickup.
