Wedding chauffeur in Hampshire — vehicle and timing tips

Hampshire venues, vehicle category by party size, timing the bridal car, and what to ask the chauffeur company before booking.

Hampshire has more wedding venues per square mile than almost any other UK county — country houses, vineyards, coastal hotels, manor estates. We chauffeur for a steady pipeline of them. This article covers the planning.

What kind of vehicle for a Hampshire wedding

It depends on what you're booking the car for.

Bridal car only (bride + father/guardian). Two people. Standard or Executive saloon is plenty. The wedding-photo emphasis is on the bride arriving — a clean Executive saloon (Mercedes E-Class or BMW 5-series) photographs well at venues with a sweep driveway. Avoid minibuses for the bridal car shot.

Bridal party (bride + 3-5 bridesmaids). MPV or Executive MPV. Bridesmaids in dresses need legroom; an MPV with sliding doors helps with dignified entry/exit.

Whole-party transfer (e.g. ceremony venue to reception venue). Minibus. The 8- or 16-seat options carry the bridal party plus close family in one vehicle, which simplifies the schedule.

Guest shuttles. Multiple minibuses on a loop, or a single hire car for VIP guests. We can quote both shapes — depends on guest count and venue parking situation.

Hampshire venues we transfer to most

  • Lainston House (Sparsholt)
  • Tylney Hall (Hook)
  • Beaulieu Estate
  • Highclere Castle
  • Hartford Manor / Norton Manor
  • Hampshire-coast hotels (Lymington, Beaulieu, Hayling Island)
  • Winchester Cathedral / Winchester Hotels
  • Botleigh Grange
  • The Elvetham
  • Tylney Hall

The above all have driveable forecourts suitable for sweep-arrival photos. Country house venues with gravel driveways: factor a slow approach into your timing — the photographer needs unhurried arrival shots.

Timing the bridal car

Hard rule: arrive at the ceremony venue 10-15 minutes before the ceremony start.

Backing into the schedule:

  • Ceremony start time: 14:00
  • Arrival at venue: 13:45-13:50
  • Drive from preparation venue: 15-30 minutes (Hampshire venues are typically close to bridal-prep hotels)
  • Chauffeur arrival at preparation venue: 13:00-13:15
  • Bride ready and dressed: 13:00

The chauffeur waits at the prep venue from the start of that window — included in the booking. We co-ordinate with the photographer and the wedding planner so the timeline holds.

Multi-leg wedding day

A typical Hampshire wedding has 3-5 chauffeur legs:

  1. Bride from preparation hotel → ceremony venue
  2. Bridal party / family from ceremony venue → reception venue
  3. Newlyweds from ceremony → reception (if separate venues)
  4. Photo-location drives (newlyweds + photographer to a scenic spot for shots)
  5. End-of-night transfers (newlyweds → hotel, parents → home)

For multi-leg days, hourly chauffeur is usually the right pricing mode rather than per-mile. The driver is on-site between legs, parked, waiting for the next instruction. See per-mile vs hourly for the math.

Minimum 3-hour hire (£135-225 depending on category). For a full wedding day, expect 6-8 hours total.

What we ask at booking

Bring these to the booking conversation:

  • Wedding date and ceremony start time
  • Both venues (prep hotel / ceremony / reception) with full postcodes
  • Bridal party size (decides vehicle category)
  • Whether you want one vehicle for the day or multiple
  • Photo-stop preferences (we can suggest scenic Hampshire stops)
  • End-of-night transfer timing (we may need a different driver to extend the shift)

Decoration and "wedding car" feel

We don't do period vintage cars — Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud / Bentley Mark VI / Daimler Limousine. For that aesthetic, specialist wedding car companies are the right call.

What we offer is clean modern executive — Mercedes E-Class, S-Class, V-Class — with the standard chauffeur uniform. Most wedding photographers prefer this for sweep arrival shots over period cars, which sometimes feel staged in 2026 photography.

We can place a small ribbon or floral arrangement on the car for the bridal arrival; coordination with your florist is straightforward.

Pricing example

A typical Hampshire wedding day (Lainston House, 6 hours, Executive MPV with 7 seats):

  • 6 hours × £70/hr (Executive MPV hourly) = £420
  • Included mileage: 6 × 15 = 90 miles (more than enough for venue-to-venue)
  • 15% volume discount (over £250): -£63
  • Final: ~£357

Per-mile pricing on the same day works out higher because of the wait time between legs — see hourly vs per-mile for the comparison.
